Fabric Discovery
4
During fabric discovery, if you have defined IPv6 IP addresses for the switch, Fabric Manager
remembers the IP address only. If the switch has a DNS name that you have defined, Fabric
Manager can remember the DNS name and use that.
NOTE
To discover an Admin Domain-aware fabric, you must have the role of admin with access to the
physical fabric and all possible admin domains on the fabric.
About FCS Policy and seed switches
Fabric Manager requires that the seed switch is the primary FCS switch at the time of discovery.
Setting time on the fabric will set the time on the primary FCS switch, which will then distribute the
changes to other switches.
When FCS Policy is defined, ConfigDownload is allowed only from the primary FCS switch, but
Fabric Manager does not check at the time of download that the switch is the primary FCS Switch.
See “FCS policy options configuration on page 245 for details about configuring the FCS policy.
Access gateway-moded switches cannot be used as the primary FCS switch.
Single fabric
Use the following procedure to discover a single fabric. You need to provide the IP address of the
seed switch for the fabric. If you do not know the exact IP address, see “Multiple fabric discovery
(subnet scan)” on page 61.
Discover a single fabric
1. Select Discovery > Discover Fabric.
The Fabric Discovery Login dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 40.
