The goal of a press proof is to accurately reproduce the output that is going to come out of the press. Presses usually use Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black inks to create their artwork. Some presses have the capability to add a pre-mixed ink also called Spot Color. One of the most well known spot color tables is the Pantone Spot Coated tables.
• Select OK.
. Open the image, File menu > Open…: If the document has an embedded color profile that does not match the current working space, select Leave the document as is. Otherwise, select Adjust the document to match current color settings, if the displayed image does not look correct, try assigning it to other color spaces with Edit menu > Assign Profiles… until you are satisfied. • Select OK. 5. Open an existing document, File menu > Open… or create a new file, File menu > New.... 6.
• Click on Add RGB Swatch button and click OK. • The new Color Swatch you have created is listed on the Swatches window. Double-click on this new Swatch, the Swatch Options dialog box will open: • Color Type: Select Spot. • Color Mode: Select PANTONE® solid coated book. • Select the desired PANTONE color and select OK.
9. File menu > Print…: • Printer: Select the printer (ex. HP Designjet Z3100ps 44in Photo). • Page Setup… button: • o Format for: Select the printer. o Paper Size: Select the paper size of the media loaded on the printer. o Orientation: Select the orientation of your image on the paper. o Select OK. Printer… button: o Select Image Quality in the drop-dawn menu: • Paper Type: Select the media type that is loaded on the printer, always calibrated.
o Color Options > Basic tab: • Select Print in Color. • Select Color Management > Printer Managed Colors. • • o Default RGB Source Profile: sRGB (HP). o Default CMYK Source Profile: Europe ISO Coated FOGRA27 (for Europe), U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2` (for US) and Japan Standard v2 (for Japan). Make sure the HP Professional PANTONE Emulation option is selected. Select Print.
5. Adobe InDesign Print… settings: • • Setup (left hand menu): o Paper Size: Defined By Driver. o Options: Select the scaling option you need. Output (left hand menu): o • • Color: Select Composite CMYK. Color Management (left hand menu): o Print: Document. o Color Handling: PostScript® Printer Determine Colors. o Check Preserve CMYK Numbers checkbox. Select Print.
