HP LF Printing Knowledge Center Proof the output on the monitor Application: Adobe Illustrator CS2 Printer: HP Designjet Z3100 series Software: HP raster driver Operating System: Windows
1. First recommendations: • See the Media type functionality & features and choose the most appropriate media. • It is essential you have the media type correctly calibrated with the printer and print mode, consult the Calibrate my printer section. • In order to get a correct display, it’s also essential you have the monitor profiled, consult the Profile my monitor section. 2.
• Select OK 3
5. Open the image, File menu > Open…: • If the document has an embedded color profile that does not match the current working space, select Use the embedded profile. Otherwise, select Assign current working space. • Select OK.
6. If you place an image, you should embed the image in the document. If it has an embedded profile, it will be converted from the embedded color profile to the document color profile preserving the color appearance. If it doesn’t have an embedded color profile, Illustrator will assign the document color profile. • File menu > Place…: browse the image and uncheck the Link checkbox. If you are asked What would you like to do? Select Convert. • Select OK. 7.
• Select OK. • Now, you can retouch your image and the monitor will show you how it’s going to look once you’ve printed it. • At the moment it is not possible to proof the output on your monitor for Fine Arts papers and Perceptual rendering intent. If you use this type of media, you should generate a new color profile for your paper. Please, consult the next document which explains this solution: Create and install a new ICC profile with the Advanced Profiling Solution. 9.
10. Choose driver settings, select Setup… button: • Select the Printer button and select your printer (ex. HP Designjet Z3100 44in Photo). • Select the Preferences button: o Paper/Quality tab: • Paper Type: Select the media type that is loaded in the printer. • Print Quality: Select Standard Options and drag the slider to Quality.
o Color tab > Color Options: • Select Print in color. • Select Color Management > Application Managed Colors. • Select OK and Print until the Illustrator print dialog box. 11. Adobe Illustrator Print… settings: • • General (left hand menu): o Media > Size: Defined by Driver. o Options: Select the scaling option you need. Color Management (left hand menu): o Print Method > Color Handling: Let Illustrator determine colors.
o • Print Method > Rendering Intent: Perceptual (for RGB images) or Relative Colorimetric (for CMYK images), it should be the same as selected in the Proof Setup dialog box. Click Print. NOTE The spectrophotometer allows HP Designjet Z3100 printers to generate custom ICC profiles automatically for your preferred paper types. If the printed image does not look correct, you can create your own color profile easily for use with your paper.
