1. First recommendations: • See the Media type functionality & features and choose the most appropriate media. • It is essential you have the media type correctly calibrated with the printer, consult the Calibrate my printer document. • In order to get a correct display, it’s also essential you have the monitor calibrated, consult the Profile my monitor document. 2. Open Adobe Photoshop CS2. 3. Configure the Color Settings, Edit menu > Color Settings…: • Make sure the More Options are displayed.
• Click OK. 4. Open the image, File menu > Open…: • If the document has an embedded color profile that does not match the current working space, select Use the embedded profile (instead of the working space). Otherwise, select Assign working space; in this case, if the displayed image does not look correct, try assigning it to other color spaces with Edit > Assign Profile (try sRGB, Adobe RGB, ColorMatch RGB and others) until you are satisfied.
• Click OK. 6. Convert the image to grayscale. We offer you two ways to perform the conversion, choose the best one for you: a) Let Photoshop do the conversion, Image menu > Mode > Grayscale. b) You can choose the percentage contribution from each color channel when creating the gray image: Image menu > Adjustments > Channel Mixer: • Select Monochrome.
• Select OK. 5. Adobe Photoshop Print with Preview… settings. File menu > Print with Preview…: • Page Setup…: o Printer...: Select the printer (ex. HP Designjet Z3100 44in Photo) and select OK. o Paper Size: Select the paper size of the media loaded in the printer. o Orientation: Select the orientation of your image on the paper. o Click OK. • Set the Position and the Scaled Print Size you need. • Make sure More Options are displayed. • Select the Color Management tab: o Print: Document.
• Select Print…. 6. Driver Settings; Properties button: • Paper/Quality tab: o Paper Type: Select the media type that is loaded in the printer. o Print Quality: Select Standard Options and drag the slider to Quality.
• Color tab > Color Options: o Select Print in color. o Select Color Management > Printer Managed Colors > Adobe RGB (1998).
• Click OK twice. Once the color management option “Let Printer Determine Colors” was selected, the option “Application Managed Colors” will be automatically gray out. Adobe Photoshop version 9.0.1 does not gray out the non-selected color management option. Ensure the selected option is the correct one.
