First recommendations: • See the Media type functionality & features and choose the most appropriate media. • It is essential you have the media type correctly calibrated with the printer and print mode, consult the Calibrate my printer section. • In order to get a correct display, it’s also essential you have the monitor profiled, consult the Profile my monitor section. 2.
• Select OK. 5. Open the image, File menu > Open…: If the document has an embedded color profile that does not match the current working space, select Use the embedded profile. Otherwise, select Assign working space; in this case, if the displayed image does not look correct, try assigning it to other color spaces with Edit > Assign Profile (try sRGB, Adobe RGB, ColorMatch RGB and others) until you are satisfied.
• Select OK. 6. If you place an image, you can embed the image in the document. If it has an embedded profile, it will be converted from the embedded color profile to the document color profile preserving the color appearance. If it doesn’t have an embedded color profile, Illustrator will assign the document color profile. • File menu > Place…: browse the image and uncheck the Link checkbox. If you are ask What would you like to do? Select Convert.
• Select OK. 7. Make sure you have configured the Document Setup appropriately for your document, File menu > Document Setup…. 8. Configure the Proof Setup dialog box in order to proof the output on the monitor, View Menu > Proof Setup > Customize…: • Device to Simulate: Select the profile of the output device you want to proof; the printer profile generally depends on the printer model and the media type. If you are going to print using the HP Driver, you will find the driver profiles on the list.
9. File menu > Print…: • Printer: Select the printer (ex. HP Designjet Z3100 44in Photo). • Page Setup…: • o Format for: Select the printer. o Paper Size: Select the paper size of the media loaded in the printer. o Orientation: Select the orientation of your image on the paper. o Select OK. Printer... button: o Paper Type/Quality > Paper tab: Paper Type: Select the media type that is loaded on the printer. Quality Options: Standard and drag the slider to Quality.
o Color tab: • Select Print in Color. • Select Color Management > Application Managed Colors.
• Select Print. 10. Adobe Illustrator Print… settings: • • General (left hand menu): o Media > Size: Defined by Driver. o Options: Select the scaling option you need. Color Management (left hand menu): o Print Method > Color Handling: Let Illustrator determine colors. o Print Method > Printer Profile: Select the profile of the printer and media type you will use to print; it should be the same as selected in the Proof Setup dialog box.
o • Print Method > Rendering Intent: Perceptual (for RGB images) or Relative Colorimetric (for CMYK images), it should be the same selected as in the Proof Setup dialog box. Select Print. NOTE The spectrophotometer allows HP Designjet Z3100 printers to generate custom ICC profiles automatically for your preferred paper types. If the printed image does not look correct, you can create your own color profile easily for use with your paper.
