1 Remove the packaging Steps 1 to 4. This task requires 2 people. Time required is 5 minutes. 5' Boxes required x2 2 Remove the 4 upper plastic handles from the sides of the box (two each side), and then carefully remove the two side lids vertically. 3 Carefully cut the straps around the boxes. Make sure that the boxes don't fall when the straps are cut. Remove the boxes shown. x4 Page 2 4 Remove the box shown. Remove the first tray from the box shown. Steps 5 to 25.
7 8 Lower the left side of the cross-brace onto the box marked L and the right side of the cross-brace onto the box marked R. 9 Locate the bag of screws and the screwdriver provided. Notice that the screwdriver is slightly magnetic. Because spare screws are supplied, some screws will remain unused after assembly of the printer. Remove the left leg from the box, and then remove the two pieces inside the leg. 10 Lower the left leg onto the left side of the cross-brace.
15 16 Use two screws on the outside of the right leg to attach the right leg to the cross-brace. 17 Use four screws to attach the cross-bar to the legs. 18 Notice that there is anti-slip material around two of the wheels on the feet. DO NOT REMOVE this material yet. Place a foot on the left leg. There are pins to help you correctly position the foot. Do not remove the anti-slip material from the wheel. x4 x2 Page 4 19 20 Use four screws to attach the foot to the left leg.
23 24 Attach the left stand spacer to the top of the left leg. It will ‘click’ into place. 25 Attach the right stand spacer to the top of the right leg. It will ‘click’ into place. x1 Position the left and right leg covers on the front of the legs (1), and then clip the rear edge (2) into place. Attach the printer engine to the Steps 26 to 38. stand This task requires 4 people. Time required is 15 minutes.
30 31 Use one screw to attach the right side of the stand to the printer engine. Make sure that the screw is fully tightened. 32 Use two screws to attach the left side of the stand to the printer. Make sure that the screws are fully tightened. x1 33 Place the spare box and the comsumables box against the rear of the printer box. The arrows on the boxes must point towards the printer box. Make sure that the anti-slip material is attached to the two rear wheels.
38 Remove the anti-slip material from the two rear wheels on the stand assembly. 39 Assemble the bin Steps 39 to 46. This task requires 1 person. Time required is 7 minutes. 7' x1 Remove the two brackets from the box that contains the stand and the bin. Note: The brackets are marked L and R. 40 Use four screws to attach the brackets to the lower part of the printer legs. (Each bracket requires two screws.
45 46 Click the ends of both bin arms into the metal brackets. Use the blue handle to open the bin. HP recommends that you leave the bin in the closed position while completing the printer assembly procedures. 47 Unpack more components Remove the packing tapes marked 1 to 7 from the exterior of the printer. Steps 47 to 52. This task requires 1 person. Time required is 5 minutes.
52 Pass the Gigabit Ethernet cable through the hook at the rear of the printer. 53 Install the ink supplies Steps 53 to 81. This task requires 1 person. Time required is 40 minutes. 40' x1 Plug the power cable into the rear of the printer, and then plug the other end into the AC power outlet. 54 Turn the Power switch to the On position at the rear of the printer. Box required Page 9 55 If the power light on the front panel remains off, press the Power button to switch on the printer.
59 Shake the ink cartridge vigorously for about 15 seconds. Be careful not to strike it against any surface because this can damage the cartridge. 60 61 Place the ink cartridge in the ink cartridge drawer. The arrow on the front of the ink cartridge should point upwards. Note that there are marks on the drawer to show the correct location to place the cartridge. Push the ink cartridge drawer back into the printer until the drawer locks into position.
67 68 Wait until this message appears on the front panel (about 1 minute). Open the printer window, and then remove the packing foam from the top of the printhead carriage. 69 Remove the packing tape that is holding down the printhead carriage latch. 70 Pull up and release the blue latch on top of the carriage assembly. Lift the blue latch to open the printhead cover. 1' 2 1 Page 11 71 Before removing the setup printheads, look at each printhead and verify that each printhead contains ink.
75 Lower all of the printheads vertically into their correct positions. The printer 'beeps' when each printhead is correctly inserted. 76 Make sure that the printheads are correctly seated. When all of the printheads are inserted, the front panel prompts you to "Close printhead cover and window". 77 78 If a "Reseat" message appears on the front panel, check that all of the protective tape has been removed, and then firmly reseat the printheads.
82 83 Remove the spindle from the printer. 84 Unlock and remove the blue hub from the left end of the spindle. Keep the spindle horizontal. Slide one the rolls of paper that came with your printer onto the spindle. Make sure that the paper is oriented as shown. 85 Make sure that the black hub on the right side of the spindle is fully inserted into the roll of paper. (No gap should exist between the spindle hub and the roll.) 2 1 Page 13 86 87 Put the blue hub onto the spindle.
90 Wait until this message appears on the front panel. 91 Open the printer window. 92 Lift the paper-load lever. 93 Pull out approximately 1m (3 feet) of paper to avoid back tension on the spindle, which can cause difficulties when loading the paper into the printer. 1 m (3 feet) Page 14 94 Insert the lead-edge of the paper into the printer, above the black roller. 98 Wait until this message appears on the front panel. 99 Use the hubs to wind the excess paper onto the spindle. 100 Lower the printer window. 101 Press the OK button when this message appears on the front panel. Page 15 102 Use the hubs to wind the excess paper onto the spindle. 103 Confirm the paper type and paper length of the roll that you loaded into the printer. This information is included on the packaging label.
Install the software This task requires 1 person. Time required is 15 minutes. 20' Please do not try to stop the paper advance; it is necessary to ensure successful printhead alignment. The alignment and calibration process will take about twenty minutes; while it is taking place, you can proceed to the next step. 15' x1 The assembly of your printer is complete.
