Microsoft Disk Manager is used to present the HDDs to the system as dynamic disks. The primary
OS volume resides on disk 0 and is mirrored on disk 1 (see Figure 9). The remaining space on the
HDDs is not used by DPM.

If the operating system has a failure that might result from corrupt system les, a corrupt registry, or the
system hangs during boot, refer to "System installation and recovery" on page 59.
Be sure to back up your user d ata, a nd then use the System Installation and Recovery DVD to restore the
server to the factory default state as soon as conveniently possible.

torage drives
The MSA20
drives for the DL100 G2 3TB and 6TB models are congured for hardware RAID
fault tol
erance using the HP Smart Array 6402 RAID Controller. The HDDs are hot-pluggable and
hot-swappable.
The MSA2 0 enclosures are e ach precongured with two R A ID 5 logical drives. Depending on the model,
a total of two or four RAID 5 logical drives are available for use by the DPM software.
