HP ProLiant Storage Server release notes These release notes cover HP ProLiant Storage Servers running editions of Microsoft® Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 or Microsoft® Windows® Unified Data Storage Server 2003.
Version: ProLiant Storage Server version 7.0, All-in-One Storage Manager version 3.7.0.88 Description These release notes cover HP ProLiant Storage Servers running editions of Microsoft® Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 or Microsoft® Windows® Unified Data Storage Server 2003 as of November 17, 2008. Update recommendation Recommended Supersedes These release notes supersede part number 5697-7585, published in September 2008. Product models HP ProLiant Storage Server 7.
• File share creation and scheduled snapshots • Hosting block-based storage for Exchange, SQL, or other applications (Microsoft iSCSI Software Target required) • Support for backup of file shares or application stores to disk, tape, or other removable media using application-aware snapshots (HP Data Protector Express required) • Streamlined data replication for file shares or application stores (HP StorageWorks Storage Mirroring required) The following limitations apply to ASM on ProLiant Storage Servers: •
HP Storage Server Management console user interface Workaround Connect directly to the storage server or via Remote Desktop. Issue: Issue: The pie chart under HP Storage Server Management > Storage Management may indicate a larger amount of disk space than actually exists Description This issue may occur if both of the following are true: • A hard quota is set and enabled on the root folder of one or more volumes.
HP Storage Server Management console user interface Description After creating a cluster, if you try to create a quota using the HP Storage Server Management console (Storage Management > Share and Storage Management > File Server Resource Manager > Quota Management > Quotas), the Quota Creation window might not open, the File Server Resource Manager will fail with the message An unexpected error occurred, and an entry will be added to the event logs. 1. Close the HP Storage Server Management console.
All-in-One Storage Manager Issue: Issue: Exchange Server 2007 logs an error (Event ID 9782 ) in event log when a snapshot is taken from All-in-One Storage Manager. Description When a snapshot of an Exchange 2007 storage group is taken by All-in-One Storage Manager, the snapshot succeeds but Exchange logs an error in the application event log on the Exchange server. This error is expected, and occurs because All-in-One Storage Manager intentionally does not mark the VSS snapshot as successful.
All-in-One Storage Manager When SQL Server or Exchange databases that are part of user-defined storage areas are promoted to SQL or Exchange storage areas in ASM, disable and delete Workaround all data protection settings for those areas (replication, snapshots, and backup) and reset them using ASM.
All-in-One Storage Manager Description If you use a non-ASM tool (such as the Array Configuration Utility, for example) to modify storage settings, you must allow ASM time to recognize those new settings during the discovery process. If you attempt to perform storage operations before the discovery process is complete, ASM will erroneously attempt to perform storage operations such as growing non-existent logical disks.
Data Protector Express Check the dpconfig.ini file at C:\Program Files\HP\Data Protector Express\config. In particular, the isDatabaseServer setting should be Yes. Other entries may vary depending on your configuration.
Data Protector Express Manually create another iSCSI virtual hard disk and make it accessible to the Exchange server: 1. Use the Exchange Management Console to move the storage group path for the log files and system files to the new volume, leaving the database at the original iSCSI volume. 2. After modifying the paths in Exchange, click Refresh in the ASM user interface to force a discovery. 3. The application area for log files will now show an alert.
HP StorageWorks Storage Mirroring Issue: Issue: Updating StorageWorks Storage Mirroring application credentials fails Description This behavior occurs when the storage server’s domain membership is changed and the SWSM replication credentials for a new user do not match a user that is also a member of the local Double Take Admins group. Workaround Update the SWSM replication credentials using the user name and password of a member of the local Double Take Admins group.
Additional applications and utilities Issue: Storage Manager for SAN stops responding when Subsystem is selected Description When Subsystem is clicked in Storage Manager for SAN, the system stops responding and displays the message MMC has detected an error in a snap-in and will unload it. This behavior is seen only when any of the MSA subsystem volumes are being expanded. Note that this behavior does not apply to the MSA 2000 series.
