3.7.0 HP StorageWorks HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software upgrade guide HP Scalable NAS for Linux (AG513-96005, October 2009)

Notifiers. The built-in notifiers provided with previous releases of Matrix Server/HP
Clustered File System are no longer supported. Existing notifiers will continue to
function until the last server is upgraded. At that point, the notifiers will be deleted
from the configuration. If you are currently using notifiers, be sure to back up
your notifier scripts. After the upgrade is complete, you will need to recreate the
notifiers.
The stand-alone Management Console provided with the 3.5.1 release cannot
be used to access a node running 3.7.0. You will need to upgrade the stand-
alone console on any clients. (The stand-alone Management Console provided
with the 3.7.0 release is backward-compatible and can access nodes running
Matrix Server 3.5.1 or earlier.)
If the SELinux security policy is set to enforcing, the following option must be
included when you mount a PSFS filesystem using the Linux mount command.
The mount will fail if this option is not specified.
-o context=system_u:object_r:nfs_t
Third-party MPIO software
If you are currently using a QLogic solution or the Matrix Server/HP Clustered File
System mxmpio software for MPIO support, HP recommends that you transition to
Linux Device Mapper MPIO, the Linux-based MPIO solution. For more information,
see Appendix C, page 105.
If you are using other third-party MPIO software, reinstall the MPIO software according
to the product documentation. Also check the PolyServe Business Support Center on
www.hp.com for articles regarding the product, or check with your HP storage
architect. After the MPIO software is installed, verify that it can see the LUNs on the
storage array.
Back up the cluster configuration
The following information describes how to back up the 3.5.1 cluster configuration.
If you made local changes to certain Matrix Server/HP Clustered File System
configuration files, you may want to merge those changes into the 3.7.0 versions of
the files after the upgrade is complete. You will not need the other backup files during
a normal upgrade, but it is important to have them for disaster recovery purposes.
The upgrade procedures later in this document specify when you should perform the
backups.
