7. Install the appropriate HP Scalable NAS kernel. To install the binary kernel, run
the following command:
# rpm -ihv kernel-HPPS-<kernel-version>.370.<xxxx>.x86_64.rpm
After installing the RPM, verify the bootloader. Check the file /boot/grub/
menu.lst and verify that the default is set to the HP binary kernel.
NOTE:
If you need to compile third-party kernel modules or build a custom kernel,
see Appendix B, page 99.
8. Reboot the server.
9. Install HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software 3.7.0 from the product CD or the
location where you have downloaded the software.
# rpm -i <mountpoint>/pmxs-3.7.0-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm
10. Run the mxcheck utility, which verifies that the servers configuration meets the
requirements for running HP Scalable NAS. Issue the following command. Output
from the utility appears on the screen and is also written to the /var/opt/
hpcfs/mxcheck (or /var/opt/polyserve/mxcheck) directory. HP
recommends that you fix any problems identified by mxcheck before you
continue the upgrade.
# /opt/hpcfs/bin/mxcheck -l -p -t - install
11. Install the FS Option for Linux support RPM from the product CD or the location
where you have downloaded the software.
# rpm -i <mountpoint>/mxfs-<os>-support-3.7.0-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm
12. Install the FS Option for Linux product RPM from the CD or the location where
you have downloaded the software.
# rpm -i <mountpoint>/mxfs-3.7.0-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm
13. Install the Management Console and mx utility:
# rpm -i <mountpoint>/mxconsole-3.7.0-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm
14. Install the quota tools RPM if desired.
# rpm -i <mountpoint>/pmxs-quota-tools-3.13-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm
15. Install the Performance Dashboard RPM if desired.
# rpm -i <mountpoint>/mxsperfmon-3.7.0-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm
