3.7.0 HP StorageWorks HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software upgrade guide HP Scalable NAS for Linux (AG513-96005, October 2009)

IMPORTANT:
Upgrade the servers in order of IP address, starting with the server with the highest
numbered address. Then continue to upgrade the servers in descending order of IP
address, with the lowest numbered server being upgraded last.
Do not restart Matrix Server/HP Clustered File System after running the MxFS
migration tool in step 1, as the resulting state change may not be captured in the
export.
1. Run the MxReg migration tool, mxfs_upgrade_prep.sh, which was installed
earlier with the MxFS migration package. The tool first halts vhost NFS serving
(you may see error messages; they can be ignored). The tool then exports the
MxReg data to the shared data path that you specified for the mximport tool
when you upgraded the first node. If you did not specify a shared data path,
the tool will export the MxReg data to the /var/opt/polyserve/run directory
on the server.
# /opt/polyserve/tools/mxfs_upgrade_prep.sh
NOTE:
When the migration tool has been run on the last node to be upgraded,
note the following: If the MxReg data was exported to the local /var/opt/
polyserve/run (or /var/opt/hpcfs/run) directory on the servers,
copy the mxreg_export.xml le from that directory on the last server
migrated with mxfs_upgrade_prep.sh to the /var/opt/polyserve/
run directory on the first node that was upgraded to 3.7.0. If you specied
a shared path when you ran the mximport tool, it is not necessary to copy
the le to the server running 3.7.0; however, HP recommends that you back
up the le.
If you did not specify a shared path for the MxReg data and did not save
the mxreg_export.xml file, a backup is available at /var/opt/
polyserve/run/mxreg_export_backup.xml on the first upgraded
server. Rename this file to mxreg_export.xml.
2. Disable the server on the Management Console. (Select the server, right-click,
and select Disable.)
3. Back up the MxFS-Linux/FS Option for Linux configuration and any quotas
information on PSFS filesystems. See Back up the cluster configuration, page 15.
