3.7.0 HP StorageWorks HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software upgrade guide HP Scalable NAS for Linux (AG513-96005, October 2009)

25. Reintroduce Oracle-specific information. (Note that Oracle uids and gids on this
node must match the other nodes in the cluster.)
The group file (/etc/group) contains entries for the dba and oinstall groups.
The password file (/etc/passwd) contains an account for user oracle.
Group pmxs includes user oracle.
The oracle account has the correct password.
The home directory for user oracle exists (for example, /home/oracle)
and has the appropriate Oracle environmental modifications.
The PSFS filesystems used by Oracle (for example, /u01, /u02) are owned
by user oracle and group oinstall.
/etc/oratab has been adjusted for the new environment. For example, it
specifies any new $ORACLE_HOME required by your migration process.
26. HP Scalable NAS includes a script called SizingActions that configures
certain operating system parameters to improve system performance. This script
must be disabled if you need to set Oracle-specific kernel parameters on the
upgraded server. (See Determine whether the SizingActions script should be
used on page 87 for more information about the script.) After disabling the
script, add the Oracle-specific kernel parameters to the /etc/sysctl file and
run the command sysctl -p to apply the changes.
2. Install Oracle 64-bit binaries
On the servers in the high IP group, do the following:
1. Hide or rename the oraInventory file used during the 32-bit installation so
that the new Oracle 64-bit install has a new/clean oraInventory. If your
previous 32-bit systems installed oraInventory in a local filesystem, this step
is unnecessary.
2. For each 32-bit $ORACLE_HOME, install the latest Linux Oracle 64-bit version
into the corresponding $ORACLE_BASE, but specify a different $ORACLE_HOME.
The installation should be performed from a 64-bit server in the high IP group.
3. Change the Oracle word size
As the oracle user on the servers in the high IP group, you should see the
$ORACLE_BASE and the filesystems that contain your database files. Change your
Oracle database word size as follows.
