3.7.0 HP StorageWorks HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software upgrade guide HP Scalable NAS for Linux (AG513-96005, October 2009)

Configure firewalls (optional)
It is important to configure firewalls appropriately. Following are some considerations:
For RHEL5, the default OS installation configures firewall rules that prevent the
correct operation of HP Scalable NAS. HP recommends that you either select the
No firewall rules option, or select Custom and then ensure that the service
ports required by HP Scalable NAS are open.
For SLES10, if you will be installing a firewall, ensure that the service ports re-
quired by HP Scalable NAS are open.
If NFS or Samba/CIFS will be used, their service ports must also be open.
Following are the network ports used by HP Scalable NAS, NFS, and Samba/CIFS.
External network port numbers
The following port numbers are used for external connections to HP Scalable NAS.
If HP Scalable NAS is behind a firewall, it may be necessary to change the firewall
rules to allow traffic on these ports.

Internal network port numbers
The following network port numbers are used for internal, server-to-server
communication. Should you have HP Scalable NAS nodes firewalled from each
other, you will need to configure the firewall to allow communication on these ports.
Although these port numbers should not conflict with any registered service, they can
easily be reconfigured as described under Change configurable port numbers in
the HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software administration guide.
