3.7.0 HP StorageWorks HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software upgrade guide HP Scalable NAS for Linux (AG513-96005, October 2009)

A Install the operating system
Installation steps
Before installing HP Scalable NAS, you will need to complete these steps:
1. Install a supported version of the operating system.
2. Build a custom kernel if needed. See Appendix B, page 99.
NOTE:
If you will be using a HP Scalable NAS binary kernel, it should be installed
as specified in the upgrade procedure.
3. Determine whether the HBA driver should be loaded either during the initial
booting of the kernel or when HP Scalable NAS is started.
4. Modify system files.
5. If you built a custom kernel, reboot the operating system to verify that the kernel
is built and configured correctly.
Installation procedure
1. Install the operating system
The operating system must be installed on each server that will be in the cluster.
Following are some considerations for the installation:
When you perform the installation, do not place any operating system files on
the SAN disks. To ensure that files are not installed on these disks, you can either
unplug the HBA card from the FC switch or unplug the SAN connection before
starting the installation. After booting the server on Red Hat Linux, plug the HBA
card back into the FC switch or restore the SAN connection.
