Chapter 2: Quick Start Checklist 4
Create dynamic
volumes.
Dynamic volumes can include multiple disks and
are used for PSFS filesystems. See “Create a
Dynamic Volume” on page 78.
Create PSFS
filesystems.
Select the dynamic volume to be used for the
filesystem and configure the appropriate options
such as block size and disk quotas. See “Create a
Filesystem” on page 99.
Assign drive letters or
mount paths to
filesystems.
To provide access to a PSFS filesystem, associate it
with a drive letter or a mount path. See “Assign
Drive Letters or Paths” on page 110.
Review snapshot
feature if configured.
If the snapshot feature is configured on the cluster,
review the procedure to create snapshots. See
“Create a Snapshot or Snapclone” on page 129.
Configure FS Option for Windows
Create Cluster File
Shares and set up
DFS.
- or -
Create Virtual CIFS
Servers and Virtual
File Shares
Cluster File Shares are Windows CIFS shares
associated with a FS Option for Windows health
monitor. For high availability, Cluster File Shares
can be deployed with DFS. See “Configure FS
Option for Windows with Cluster File Shares” in
the FS Option for Windows administration guide.
Virtual CIFS Servers provide CIFS access to Virtual
File Shares (virtual CIFS shares) on PSFS
filesystems. See “Configure FS Option for
Windows with Virtual File Servers” in the FS
Option for Windows administration guide.
Configure backups
Configure backup
mechanisms.
Prepare to back up HP Clustered File System, the
mxds datastore, and disk quotas. See “Back Up and
Restore the Cluster Configuration” on page 38.
