Troubleshooting
This section contains descriptions of possible difficulties followed by
possible causes and suggestions for solutions.
This table contains the SA8250 Troubleshooting Guide.
Problem Possible Cause Solution
Cannot ping the VIP
Route role/protocol
configuration is
incorrect.
Ensure that the route role and protocol are set
correctly. Route role must be set to
“standalone” and protocol must be set to
“none.”
Cannot run the GUI
Administrative
interface
DNS name resolution is
incomplete.
To run the GUI, the SA8250 must be able to
resolve its own hostname via DNS, both
forward and reverse. The client machine on
which the browser is running must also be
able to resolve its own hostname using DNS,
both forward and reverse.
Java plug-in is not
installed
To run the GUI using Windows, you must
have Java plug-in version 1.1.1_004 (or
earlier) installed on your workstation. For

Java plug-in is the
wrong version
To run the GUI using Windows, you must
have Java plug-in version 1.1.1_004 (or
earlier) installed on your workstation. If you
have a later version installed, it must be
removed before installting version 1.1.1_004
(or earlier). For more information, see the

Missing a trailing slash
for the GUI URL
Some browsers will not launch the GUI if the
trailing slash is missing from the URL. Be
sure to included the trailing slash, as shown
here: http://CSLab7k:1095/
