Analyzing storage system utilization using HP Command View EVA Perf
The HP Command View EVAPerf tool can be used to gather and analyze statistics on storage system
utilization. This section provides recommendations on using HP Command View EVAPerf to gather
statistics to help identif y periods of low storage system activity.
If you are not familiar with HP Command View EVAPerf, see the HP StorageWorks Command View EVA
user guide for more information. You may also want to read through the HP Command View EVAPerf

The most impor tant statistics for evaluating the state of the storage system for online rmware upgrades
are the host port statistics (hps) and the virtual disk statistics (vd). The HP Command View EVAPerf
data can be used to calculate the total demand on the storage system by summing the columns for
agivenpointintime.
Capt
uring host port statistics
Use t
he following command to capture the host port statistics:
evaperf hps -csv cont n -dur n -sz array -fo filename
-csv species comm a separated output. This format is useful for importing large amounts of
data into a spreadsheet for ana lysis.
-co
nt n runs command continuously at interval specied by n. The default interval is one
second.
-dur n species the duration of a continuous mode session. For example, if you enter evaperf
hps
-cont 2 -dur 30, host por t data is displayed at two second intervals for a total of 30 seconds.
