HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array Online Firmware Upgrade Best Practices (5697-6388, January 2007)

-sz array limits data collection to the specied array(s). You must enter at least one array
and can use either the storage system WWN or friendly name.
-fo filename directs output to a specied lename. Include the path information as necessary.
NOTE:
The HP Command View EVAPerf as command provides an alternative to the hps command for
gathering and displaying IOPS and I/O throughput.

Capturing virtual disk statistics
Use the following comma nd to capture the virtual disk statistics:
evaperf vd -csv cont n -dur n -sz array -fo filename
The com m and parameters are described in the p receding section.
Virtual disk statistics are useful for identifying a virtual disk that has signicant activity at a given point
in time. For example, assume a storage system with multiple virtual disks that are all nearly idle with
the exception of a single virtual disk. To perform an online upgrade, it may be desirable to halt the
application that is imposing the load on the busy logical drive. This may be preferable to doing an
ofine upgrade.
