Customer 3 is an
other long time EVA customer with EVA storage systems being used at a large number of
facilities. Th
eir EVAs host data for a number of systems including Oracle 10g.
Their experien
ce with online upgrades is very different from the others described here. The division that
was recently v
isited had been using online upgrades as their preferred method of controller upgrades for
anumberofrel
eases. They had been using online upgrades from the early VCS 3.x versions of firmware.
When asked abo
ut their experiences, the customer indicated tha t online controller firmware upgrades
work in their
environment and were part of their upgrade plans. This customer was one of the first to
note the lack
of online controller firmware upgrades from XCS 5.031 to 5.100. They were a big part of
the reason that the lab developed the XCS 5.032 bridge release.
