Before you begin
Observe the following precautions when replacing a cache battery.
CAUTION:
Parts can be
damaged by electrostatic discharge. Use proper
anti-stat
ic protection.
NOTE:
The quantity of installed cache batteries var i es with EVA models.
Two battery slots are located at the left front of the controller
enclosure. Two additional battery slots are located behind the
operator control panel (OCP).
Verifying component failure
Use the following methods to verify component failure:
CAUTION:
If HP Command View EVA does not present a status consistent with
the battery status indicator, or if either HP Command View EVA or
your system monitoring tool indicates multiple hardware failures,
contact HP support for assistance (h
ttp://www.hp.com/support).
Analy
ze any failure messages received. Fault m onitoring software
from HP (WEBES) provides a recommended solution.
Check status using HP Command View EVA:
1. In the navigation pane, select Storage system > Hardware >
Rack > Controller Enclosure > C ontroller.
NOTE:
TheEVA6400/8400doesnothaveaRackselectionin
the navigation pane.
2. In the Content pane, select the Enclosure tab. The status is
displayed in the Cache Battery M odules eld. The status should
be
(Failed).
