HP StorageWorks EVA iSCSI Connectivity Option 5.0 release notes (5697-6714, August 2007)

Workaround
Follow the correct iqn name syntax as described in section 3.2.6 of RFC 3720.
For Windows—In the initiator GUI, click Reset under Change in the General tab to reset the iqn name to
its original
name that was created when you installed the initiator.
For LinuxEd
it the InitiatorName setting in the initiatorname.iscsi le using the correct syntax.
For Linux and Windows—Reinstalling the initiator creates a valid iqn name.
iSCSI initiator LUNs disappear after changing the initiator iqn name
The mpx100 maintains a database of targets, initiators and LUNs and the corresponding links bet ween
them. Whenever Command View presents or removes a LUN from an iSCSI initiator, it updates the
mpx100’s da tabase. When a new iqn name logs into the mpx100, it is considered a new initiator and
no LUNs are assigned to it. All LUN assignments to the old iqn are still maintained.
Workaround
Using Command View EVA, unpresent the LUN from the old initiator iqn and then present it to the
new initiator iqn name. Remove the old initiator from the mpx100 database with either the mpx100
Manager GU
IortheCLI.
Windows iSCSI initiators must add Tcp1323Opts to registry
Timestamps help TCP measure round trip time (RTT) accurately to adjust retransmission timeouts. The
Timestamps option provides two timestamp elds of 4 bytes each in the TCP header: one to record the
time the initial transmission is sent, a nd one to record the time on the remote host.
To enable timestamps, the Tcp1323Opts entrymustbesettoREG_DWORD = 2 under
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters.
Installing the Windows iSCSI initiator from the HP StorageWorks iSCSI Connectivity O ption for Enterprise
Virtual Array Windows software k it automatically adds this registry setting.
Workaround
Make the change to the registry, or cut and paste the following lines to a text le named
tcp1323
opts.reg.
tcp1323opts.reg.
:
REGEDIT

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Current-
ControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
"Tcp1323
Opts"=dword:00000002
Double-c
