Version: XCS 6.240 Description This document contains information specific to the release of XCS 6.240 for the EVA4000/6000/8000 and EVA4100/6100/8100. Much of the information included here is not documented elsewhere, so it is recommended that you read this information thoroughly before installing and operating the EVA4x00/6x00/8x00. NOTE: If you are using asynchronous replication, HP strongly recommends that you upgrade to XCS 6.200 or later to ensure maximum performance.
• Fixed an issue where a bad block reassign command was being issued to the same volume from both controllers. • When resolving a multiple drive failure in a disk group that contains DR group members and the disk groups volumes are brought offline, a metadata update function may be started incorrectly on the controller that is not the primary controller. Metadata for a disk group can only be updated on the controller that is the primary controller.
I/O. While there is no impact on the operation of the HP EVA, the logging of the event messages results in WEBES callouts. This issue has not been encountered during extensive XCS 6.240 testing. Customers are advised to upgrade to XCS 6.240 to mitigate this possible problem. If the issue is encountered while running a version other than XCS 6.240 and upgrading to XCS 6.240 is not currently possible, contact HP support for alternative solutions to address the event.
Under storage, click Disk Storage Systems, and then select the appropriate array model under EVA Disk Arrays. Important notes and workarounds This section identifies important notes and workarounds for the EVA4x00/6x00/8x00 hardware and XCS software. Upgrading to XCS 6.240 puts asynchronous DR groups in Temp Sync state Upgrading to XCS 6.240 from any version earlier than XCS 6.200 puts asynchronous DR groups in Temp Sync state. The XCS 6.
• To have an asynchronous data replication with arrays with VCS 3.110, first the DR Group creation must be in synchronous mode and wait for normalization to complete and then the replication mode needs to be changed to asynchronous mode. • Redundancy (Vraid) level for the destination member should be same as the source for XCS 6.240 and VCS 3.110.
