Version: XCS 6.250 Description This document contains information specific to the release of XCS 6.250 for the EVA4000/6000/8000 and EVA4100/6100/8100. Much of the information included here is not documented elsewhere, so it is recommended that you read this information thoroughly before installing and operating the EVAx000/x100. NOTE: If you are using asynchronous replication, HP strongly recommends that you upgrade to XCS 6.200 or later to ensure maximum performance.
• Fixed a Unit Stalled Too Long condition and CSM Reset termination, caused by a second deferred quiesce starting while a first was in progress. • Fixed an error that could result in a controller termination (termination code 0x0442011f) if the drives become inoperable. • Fixed a controller termination (termination code 0x07130100) that occurred when adding a disk to a disk group failed due to an invalid RAID level.
Customers are advised to upgrade to XCS 6.250 to mitigate this possible problem. If the issue is encountered while upgrading from XCS 6.200 to XCS 6.250, contact HP support for alternative solutions to address the event. See the customer advisory (c01914371, HP StorageWorks 4000/6000/8000 and 4100/6100/8100 Enterprise Virtual Array EMU communication events are sometimes reported following upgrade from XCS 6.200) for more information.
Important notes and workarounds This section identifies important notes and workarounds for the EVA4x00/6x00/8x00 hardware and XCS software. Upgrading to XCS 6.250 puts asynchronous DR groups in Temp Sync state Upgrading to XCS 6.250 from any version earlier than XCS 6.200 puts asynchronous DR groups in Temp Sync state. The XCS 6.xxx controller software has a Temp Sync state for DR groups that is used when a full copy is required.
• To have an asynchronous data replication with arrays with VCS 3.110, first the DR Group creation must be in synchronous mode and wait for normalization to complete and then the replication mode needs to be changed to asynchronous mode. • Redundancy (Vraid) level for the destination member should be same as the source for XCS 6.250 and VCS 3.110.
