Changing the type of a system software image
System software image file attributes include main (M), backup (B), and secure (S). You can store only one
main image, one backup image, and one secure image on the firewall. A system software image can have any
combination of the M, B, and S attributes. If the file attribute you are assigning has been assigned to an image,
the assignment removes the attribute from that image. The image is marked as N/A if it has only that attribute.
The file of the N/A type cannot be used at device startup.
For example, the file main.bin has the M attribute and the file update.bin has the S attribute. After you assign
the M attribute to update.bin, the type of update.bin changes to M+S and the type of main.bin changes to N/A.
NOTE:
You cannot remove or assign the S attribute in the File Control submenu.
To change the type of a system software image:
1. Enter 2 in the File Control submenu.
'M' = MAIN 'B' = BACKUP 'S' = SECURE 'N/A' = NOT ASSIGNED
