New and changed features in this release
New features
The following feature is new with the B.11.31.1309 version of the FibrChanl-01 (fcd) Fibre Channel
Mass Storage Driver for HP-UX 11iv3:
• The B.11.31.1309 version of FibrChanl-01 (fcd) Fibre Channel Mass Storage Driver supports
HP PCIe 16Gb single port and dual port FC QLogic HBAs. Refer to the HP-UX Fibre Channel
(fcd, fclp) and FlexFabric FCoE (fcoc) Host Bus Adapter Support Matrix at http://www.hp.com/
go/hpux-iocards-docs.
◦ To display 16G link speed correctly in HP-UX WBEM Provider for 16Gb Fibre Channel
HBAs, HP recommends users install these software bundles:
– ProviderDefault (ProviderDefault.WBEMP-FCP) B.11.31.1309
– CommonIO B.11.31.1309
◦ The fcd driver version B.11.31.1309 supports multi-initiator NPIV with 16Gb Fibre Channel
adapters. For details, refer to Integrity VM documentation at http://www.hp.com/go/
hpux-hpvm-docs.
◦ To install HP-UX to Fibre Channel storage using the 16Gb FC Adapter, follow these steps.
They are required when managing system installations through the 16Gb FC Adapter
because at present 16Gb enablement in the FCD driver is available with FibrChanl-01
version B.11.31.1309 release SW depot and is not yet part of an HP-UX Fusion.
1. Update the Ignite-UX server with Ignite-UX product version C.7.17.361 or later.
2. Download the FibrChanl-01 version B.11.31.1309 depot, which includes 16Gb
support, on to a depot server.
3. Copy or replace FibrChanl-01 version B.11.31.1309 depot to the target depot
identified for installation of B.11.31.1303 Fusion LR.
4. Ignite the target system using the target depot prepared in step 3.

◦ As per Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop topology specification, 16Gb Fibre Channel
adapters support max link speed of 8Gbps in Arbitrated Loop setup.
◦ The fcd driver downloads the ROM firmware from the 16Gb Fibre Channel adapter flash,
hence it is important that 16Gb Fibre Channel adapters have the HP recommended ROM
firmware versions. For details, refer to the 16Gb Fibre Channel adapter installation guide
