Auto-Speed Negotiation
The A6826A, A9782A, A9784A and AB465A adapters are capable of transferring data at 1
Gb or 2 Gb per second. The AB378A, AB378B, AB379A, and AB379B are capable of 1 Gb, 2
Gb or 4 Gb per second. The adapters automatically negotiate to find the highest speed common
to the port and the infrastructure connecting the port. Each port on dual port adapters negotiates
speed independently.
To display the link speed along with other existing adapter information, enter the following
command:
fcmsutil <device_filename>
Once the adapter has negotiated a transfer speed, it does not attempt to negotiate again unless
a link fails or it detects a chip reset.
Device Replacement without System Reboot using fcmsutil (pre-HP-UX 11.31 only)
The fcmsutil <device_file> replace_dsk <remote-N-Port-ID> command described
in this section enables target device replacement without a system reboot.
NOTE: This use of fcmsutil has been obsoleted in HP-UX 11i v3. Please see the discussion
under scsimgr for information on device replacement without system reboot on HP-UX 11.31
systems.
This command is available for Fibre Channel adapters or Fibre Channel combination cards that
use the fcd driver, including the following:
• 451871-B21
• AH400A
