HP Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapters Support Guide FibrChanl-01 (fcd) Driver

This command has three options:
Validate device replacement for a specific lunpath (for example, run the command: #
scsimgr -f replace_wwid -C lunpath -I 0).
The advantage of using this option is that it allows you to directly specify a single lunpath
class and instance, and it is sufficient when the replaced device only has one lunpath, or if
only a few lunpaths are affected by the SAN reconfiguration.
Validate device replacement for all lunpaths of a replace LUN (for example, run the command:
# scsimgr -f replace_wwid -D /dev/rdisk/disk15).
If the device to be replaced has multiple lunpaths, it would be cumbersome to repeat the
scsimgr replace_wwid command for each lunpath. Using this option allows you to validate
the replacement for all lunpaths of the device at one time, by specifying the replaced LUN.
Validate device replacement for all lunpaths under a target path (for example, run the
command: # scsimgr -f replace_wwid -C tgtpath -I 3).
When a LUN is replaced, or the SAN is reconfigured, several lunpaths under a given target
may be placed in authentication failure” state; for instance, when reconfiguration of a disk
array results in different WWIDs being assigned to LUNs of the disk array seen by the system.
The disk array can have thousands of LUNs, but only a few target ports. All lunpaths of the
affected LUNs will be put into “authentication failure. In such a case, it is easier for you to
validate the device replacement by specifying the target paths. All lunpaths beneath each
specified target path will be validated.
