Configuring OAP
This chapter describes how to configure OAP to enable the device to run additional applications.
Overview
Basic concepts
OAA
HP Open Application Architecture (OAA) is an open framework. Together with OAP and ACFP,
OAA enables third-party vendors to develop value-added applications and integrate the
applications into HP products.
OAP
Open Application Platform (OAP) is an open application protocol that HP developed on OAA to
support emerging services. It enables information exchange and collaboration between the ACFP
server and the ACFP clients.
As a support protocol of ACFP, OAP defines the following entities:
{ OAP manager—Integrated in the device software (Comware) as a function.
{ OAP client—Integrated in the operating system of the OAP module as a function.
OAP module
OAP modules are value-added application modules developed by HP. You can choose and install
these modules to HP products to provide additional services, such as security and wireless control
services. For example, the OAP module LSU1FWCEA can be installed in a switch to provide
monitoring and detection services.
OAP modules have their own CPUs and storage media.
ACFP
Application Control Forwarding Protocol (ACFP) is an application control forwarding protocol that
uses the client/server model. The ACFP client runs on the OAP module, and the ACFP server runs
on the device hosting the OAP module.
OAP functions
OAP provides the following functions:
OAP clients register with and deregister from the OAP manager.
The OAP manager assigns IDs to OAP clients to uniquely identify the clients.
