Configuring EMS HA-ATM for Local Recovery
A summary of the steps for configuring EMS HA-ATM for local recovery
is as follows:
Step 1. Ensure that the following things have already been done:
✓ The ATM adapters have been installed (see the installation
instructions provided with the ATM adapter). Be sure the primary
adapter and all of its secondary adapters are installed in the same
system.
✓ The ATM software has been installed on each system you want to be
monitored by EMS HA-ATM (see “Installing the ATM Software” on
page 7). Note that if the Event Monitoring Service (EMS) is not
already installed on a system, it is automatically installed when you
install the ATM software.
✓ The ATM adapters have been configured with ATM card parameters
(see “Configuring the ATM Card Parameters” on page 20 for more
information).
✓ ELAN interfaces have been configured on each primary ATM
adapter (see “Configuring an ELAN Interface” on page 50).
Step 2. Configure the secondary LAN Emulation Services.
Step 3. Configure EMS HA-ATM for the primary ELAN interfaces (SAM
automatically allocates secondary ELAN interfaces for you), and assign
secondary ELAN interfaces to the primary ELAN interfaces.
Step 4. Configure the local recovery delay period, if needed (see “Local Recovery”
on page 93).
Step 5. Start the EMS HA-ATM hatmmon monitor, by adding a monitoring
request for the ELAN interface resource. If you will also be using EMS
HA-ATM for remote recovery (with MC/ServiceGuard), you do not need
to do this task. This is because MC/ServiceGuard will perform the
monitoring request.
Step 6. Verify the local recovery configuration.
Steps 2 through 6 are described in the following sections.
