Configuring Secondary LAN Emulation Services
The rules and steps for configuring secondary LAN Emulation Services
are discussed in the following sections.
IMPORTANT HP’s implementation does not support MPOA for secondary LANs.
Secondary LAN Emulation Services Configuration Rules
Observe the following rules when configuring secondary LAN Emulation
Services:
You must configure the same secondary LECS ATM address and
secondary ELAN name on all ELAN interfaces that are members of
the ELAN. They will then all transfer to the same secondary LECS
and secondary LES/BUS (on the secondary ELAN) if a primary
LECS fails.
In the primary LECS, assign a primary LES to the primary ELAN.
In the secondary LECS, assign a secondary LES to the secondary
ELAN. See your LECS documentation for details about how to
configure the LECS.
NOTE The LES/BUS assigned to the ELAN in the secondary LECS
configuration file must be different from the LES/BUS assigned to
the primary ELAN in the primary LECS.
•Werecommend that you do not place the LAN Emulation Services
in a switch directly connected to an ATM adapter.
•Youmust configure the same configuration parameters (for example,
MTU Size) for the primary and secondary ELAN interfaces.
If access control rules are present in the primary LECS, those rules
must be identical in the secondary LECS. For more information
about configuring the LECS, see the LECS documentation.
