ATM Configuration and Troubleshooting Guide
Configuring EMS High Availability over ATM
Configuring EMS HA-ATM for Local Recovery
Chapter 6 115
The LEC Selector you specify modifies the last byte of the ATM address
of the ATM adapter. Each ELAN interface on an ATM adapter must have
a unique LEC Selector.
Step 9. Specify the ELAN name of the secondary ELAN.
NOTE The ELAN name is case sensitive. So, you must configure the ELAN
name in SAM exactly as it is configured in the LECS.
NOTE The primary ELAN and secondary ELAN can have the same name.
However, for ease of maintenance and troubleshooting, we recommend
that you adopt a naming convention that clearly indicates the secondary
ELAN. For example, for the ELAN “MKTG” you might want to name the
secondary ELAN “MKTG_S”. Note that this secondary ELANname must
be assigned to a secondary LES in the secondary LECS.
Step 10. Select the OK button when you are finished.
Step 11. Exit SAM.
Step 12. Go to the next section, “Configuring EMS HA-ATM for the ELAN
Interfaces”.
Configuring EMS HA-ATM for the ELAN Interfaces
Before you configure EMS HA-ATM for the ELAN interfaces, consider
the possibilities for secondary ELAN interfaces described below.
Secondary ELAN Interface Possibilities
You have the following possibilities when configuring secondary ELAN
interfaces for High Availability:
