ATM Configuration and Troubleshooting Guide

Configuring EMS High Availability over ATM
Configuring EMS HA-ATM for Remote Recovery (Using MC/ServiceGuard)
Chapter 6 133
Verifying the Remote Recovery Configuration
NOTE This verification assumes that you have already configured and verified
EMS HA-ATM for local recovery.
To verify the remote recovery configuration, follow these steps:
Step 1. From another system that is on the same ELAN as the one you are
verifying, open a connection to the primary ELAN interface by using this
command:
ping floating_IP_address_of_ELAN
Step 2. Unplug the ATM cables on all the ATM adapters in the original system.
If remote failover has occurred correctly, the following things are true:
ping resumes (after some delay) after the package starts on the
adoptive system.
Note that you can check to see if hatmmon is running on the adoptive
system, by using this command:
ps -ef | grep resource_name
The output should show the following:
/opt/hatmmon/sbin/hatmmon resource_name
The netstat -in command shows that only one IP address is
assigned to the primary ELAN interfaces on the original system. The
floating IP addresses will have been assigned to ELAN interfaces on
the adoptive system.
For example, running HP-UX 10.20, if ela0 has failed and the IP
addresses have been transferred to elb0, the netstat -in display
after local recovery has occurred could look like this (25.128.10.194
and 25.128.20.194 are the floating IP addresses):
Name Mtu Network Address Ipkts Ierrs Opkts Oerrs Coll
