C Reinstall the product. If lanscan reports that the hardware state for
the ATM adapter is DOWN, the adapter cannot send or receive packets due
to a hardware, firmware, or driver state problem (ensure that the ATM
adapter has not been stopped with atmstop). This might mean that the
product has not been properly installed. Reinstall the product, then start
the troubleshooting procedure again.
If lanscan returns an error after the product has been reinstalled, follow
these steps:
Step 1. Log in as root.
Step 2. Type sam to start SAM.
Step 3. If SAM can detect the ATM adapter, there is a problem with lanscan
(SAM uses a built-in lanscan-like utility).
Step 4. Continue with the troubleshooting procedure.
Step 5. Contact HP about the separate lanscan problem.
D Call HP. See “Contacting Your HP Representative” on page 281 before
calling HP.
E Check the adapter LEDs. Consult the appropriate hardware
installation guide and check whether the LED display on the adapter
indicates a successful installation and correct cabling.
