ATM Configuration and Troubleshooting Guide

Troubleshooting LAN Emulation
Chapter 9244
Check that the LES is correctly defined for the ELAN in the LECS
configuration file. See “Checking ELAN Access Control Rules Definitions
on LECS” on page 244 for details about checking the LECS configuration
file.
Checking ELAN Access Control Rules Definitions on LECS
If any Access Control rules are present in the LECS configuration file, it
might be possible that the Access Control rules do not allow either of the
source and destination systems to join the ELAN. To check that the
Access Control rules are correctly defined in the LECS, see your LECS
documentation for details.
Checking the Switch/Edge Device
It is not possible to give detailed troubleshooting information for ATM
switches or edge devices in this manual, so this section gives some
guidelines. If, for example the LECS, LES, or BUS appears to have a
problem, the switch or edge device might not be working correctly. Before
referring to the switch documentation for detailed instructions, you
should do the following:
Check the connections between the switch and the adapters.
Check that the ports on the switch are configured for ILMI, and
check the ILMI configuration on the switch in general.
Check the port configuration.
Check that UNI 3.0, UNI 3.1, or UNI 4.0 is running on the port
attached to the ATM adapter, and that the ATM adapter is
configured for the same UNI setting.
