Troubleshooting EMS HA over ATM
Chapter 9270
If you configured a local recovery delay period for a primary ELAN
interface (see “Local Recovery” on page 93), the message
INTERFACE_FAILURE_DELAY set in monitor options file is written
to the log file.
Example for HP-UX 10.20:
------------------------ EVENT #1 -----------------------
20:09:1998:22:49:19:986 313 : INTERFACE_FAILURE_DELAY set in monitor
options file.
ELAN interface: ela0
Switchover for the ELAN interface will be
delayed for 20 seconds.
Example for HP-UX 11.X:
------------------------ EVENT #1 -----------------------
20:09:1998:22:49:19:986 313 : INTERFACE_FAILURE_DELAY set in monitor
options file.
ELAN interface: el100
Switchover for the ELAN interface will be
delayed for 20 seconds.
B Checking that local recovery has occurred if the current ATM
adapter fails. Because hatmmon detects changes in the status of the
ELAN interface and the ATM adapter, when either status changes, the
monitor logs the event and takes the appropriate action. Note that the
sequence of the logs for those events might not be in the order you
expect. This is because an event like an adapter failure might trigger a
recovery action that would be independent of the detection and logging of
the corresponding interface failure.
For example, if a cable is disconnected from the current ATM adapter,
you might see these log messages:
Current ATM adapter is DOWN 306
Local recovery made 307
An ELAN interface has changed to DOWN 318
This sequence of events shows that an adapter failed (shown by the
logging of both the 306 and 318 messages).
