More Information about Tracing
Some other information you might find useful when you are using
tracing is given below.
Protocol Information
The following protocol information is traced for data packets:
• AAL5 PDU ATM header. Only the VPI and VCI are supported (there
is no tracing by cell, so no other ATM header fields are captured).
• LLC (Type I) header.
• SNAP header.
• ATM ARP packet (full decoding and formatting of all ATM ARP
packet types and fields).
• Internet Protocol Suite.
• Signalling messages.
Signalling Messages
For signalling messages, only the UNI 3.0, 3.1, or 4.0 signalling message
itself is decoded. No SSCOP PDU information is supplied. The ATM
subsystem subformatter supports tracing of all defined UNI 3.0, 3.1, and
4.0 signalling messages (see the UNI 3.0, 3.1, or 4.0 documentation for
more information).
Information Elements and Entities
The subformatter provides full decoding and formatting for all
Information Elements (IEs). If a signalling message is properly
formatted, each IE contained in the message is displayed. Not all IEs are
supported in UNI 3.0, 3.1, and 4.0 and RFC 1577/1755, but even
unsupported IEs will be decoded and formatted if they are received.
Only the AAL5 form of the IE is supported (see UNI 3.0, 3.1, or 4.0), and
all fields in the AAL5 form of the IE are supported.
