Replacing a LAN Emulation LEC Adapter
Changing the adapter’s hardware MAC address has no effect on the LAN
Emulation configuration. So, you do not need to perform any
reconfiguration if you replace an ATM adapter on which ELAN
interfaces are configured. The MAC address is not updated dynamically
in the configuration files for each ELAN interface, so the previous MAC
address continues to be used.
Note that if you set the ELAN MAC address parameter to “Default”
(meaning that the ATM adapter’s own hardware MAC address is used on
the ELAN), and later change the ATM adapter, then in SAM the ELAN
MAC address is automatically set to “Manual” and the previous
hardware MAC address remains displayed. If you reconfigure the ELAN
MAC address parameter to “Default”, then the new adapter’s hardware
MAC address is used instead.
