Switch Requirements
The requirements for switches connected to ATM adapters are as follows:
• The switch to which the ATM adapter is connected must support the
network part of the UNI 3.0, 3.1, or 4.0 specifications, including
physical layer, ATM layer, MMF, SMF, or UTP Cat 5, and signalling
and ILMI protocols.
• The switch must support the 155 Mbits/s or 622 Mbits/s interface
defined by the ATM Forum UNI 3.0, 3.1, or 4.0.
• For MMF or SMF fiber connections, the switch must have either SC
or ST connectors.
• The switch must beable to handle communications between UNI 3.0,
UNI 3.1, and UNI 4.0 nodes.
