Configuring an Edge Device for Token Ring Networks
When configuring an ELAN interface for a Token Ring network,
Hewlett-Packard recommends that, where possible, you configure the
edge device port that is connected to the ATM switch so that it can
operate in both source routing and transparent routing modes (SRT).
If an SRT setting is not available, Table 4-3 below describes how to
configure the ports of the edge device in the Token Ring network to suit
the version of HP-UX you are running on your HP system:
(a) Source routing configured at the Token Ring network side must have
source routing or SRT configured at the LEC side.
(b) A system running HP-UX 11.X will first try to establish a
communication using source routing. If the configuration of the edge
device does not make it possible to communicate using source routing,
the system establishes the communication using transparent mode.
