Announcement 1 Announcement This document describes features, limitations, and known issues of the HP Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) Multiplexer (MUX) product. The A6748A/A6749A PCI MUX product is non-compliant with Restriction of Hazardous Substance (RoHS) standard. The A6748A/A6749A PCI MUX is a high-speed serial communication multiple port product.
Announcement Features and Benefits Features and Benefits The A6748A and A6749A PCI MUX software offer the following new features and benefits: • Driver software for A6748A/A6749A PCI MUX card is bundled under the name TermIO-00. • There is no charge for the software (for all board versions). The software is bundled with the hardware and requires no software license or codeword. Software support, manuals, and release notes are also part of the hardware product structure.

Software Requirements You must have installed the HP-UX 11i v3 operating system before installing this product. To install this product, use the swinstall command. Hardware Requirements Table 1-2 lists the platforms that support A6748A/A6749A PCI MUX serial adapters.
Announcement Compatibility Information and Installation Requirements • The kernel dynamically assigns the major number for PCI MUX when you install the PCI Mux driver. This major number can differ from system to system. However, once a major number is assigned, it remains unchanged across reboots until the driver is removed. You can determine the major number by entering the following command: lsdev -d pci_mux0 (pci_mux0 is the driver name of the PCI MUX.
