Note Only qualified Hewlett-Packard personnel can install ATM adapters in the HP 9000

T-Class Corporate Business Server, Model T600.

Cleaning precautions

Hewlett-Packard strongly recommends that you keep the ﬁber optic cable plugs

clean by always covering the ends of the cable with the protective dust caps when

the cables are not connected to the ATM adapter. You must also cover the ﬁber optic

sockets on the ATM adapter with their protective dust caps. Special cleaning kits for

cleaning the cables and sockets are commercially available.

Installing the ATM adapter

Follow the guidelines on the installation of PMB cards given in the HP 3000

Corporate Business Systems and HP 9000 Corporate Business Servers Installation

Guide, HP Part No. A1809-90001.

1 Log on as root and shutdown the system

/etc/shutdown -h

2 Disconnect the power supply on the T600 system as well as all

telecommunications network cables.
