Check that you have the necessary addresses

• For all installations you need the ATM adapter’s IP address.

• For installations where the local network uses subnets you need the subnet mask

of the local network.

• For installations where you intend to use LAN emulation you need:

• an IP address for each emulated LAN

• the IP address of the LECS (LAN emulation configuration server)

• For installations where you are connecting to a non-UNI 3.0 or non-UNI 3.1

compliant switch you need to know the ATM network prefix.

• For installations where the node will run as an ATM ARP client you need to

know the ATM address of the ATM ARP server it will use.

Check the switch specifications

Ensure that the switch:

• supports the appropriate interface for your ATM adapter (MMF 622 Mbits/s,

MMF 155 Mbits/s, SMF 155 Mbits/s or UTP Cat5 RJ45 155 Mbits/s)

• has SC or ST connectors
