The gettys active on those ports might treat the break as an auto-speed detection loop and change the baud rate, causing the ports to appear “hung”.

Other than potentially causing confusion, this misidentification has no other adverse impact. To fix the problem for the current release, you may correct the file, /usr/sam/lib/C/pd_devinfo.
