Introduction
This chapter describes how applications can send and receive data on a
virtual circuit (VC) socket. It applies equally to SVCs and PVCs. The
topics discussed include:
• Sending and receiving data
• Controlling the MDTF, D, and Q bits
• Using nonblocking I/O
• Getting next message status
• Setting the buffer thresholds and sizes
This chapter assumes that the VC has been established using the
techniques described in Chapter 3 , “Establishing and Terminating a
Socket Connection.”
