— HP-UX LAN provider support. You can use WBEM-based clients to access the
LAN Provider and collect information about the Ethernet links on your system.

• The GigEther-00 driver software bundle (gelan driver) and the always-installed
Fast Ethernet btlan driver are updated to provide:
— 64-bit management information base (MIB) statistics. Directs the data link
service (DLS) provider to return 64 bit statistics.
— Virtual LANs (VLANs). This feature was on HP-UX 11i v1 since June 2004 but
was not on the HP-UX 11i v2 release of March 2004. This feature is described in
Using HP-UX VLANs on http://docs.hp.com.
— HP-UX LAN provider support. You can use WBEM-based clients to access the
LAN Provider and collect information about the Ethernet links on your system.

Changed Product Features for July 2003
The July 2003 release of Ethernet provided modifications including:
• IEther-00 driver software bundle for HP-UX 11.23.
• GigEther-00 driver software bundle for HP-UX 11.23.
• GigEther-01 driver software bundle for HP-UX 11.23.
• On HP-UX 11.23, all 3 Gigabit Ethernet drivers support the MTU range of 1024
through 9000. On HP-UX 11i v1, the iether driver supported an MTU range from
257 - 9000, while the gelan and igelan drivers only supported two MTUs: 1500 or
9000.
• Fast Ethernet supports a range of MTUs from 257 to 1500
Changed Product Features for December 2003
The December 2003 release of Gigabit Ethernet provided modifications including:
• Introduction of A7011A (fiber) and A7012A (copper) 2-port Gigabit Ethernet cards
which use the iEther-00 driver software bundle for HP-UX 11i v1.

First edition of July 2003 contained information previously documented in:

Second edition of December 2003 clarifies acceptable MTU sizes for all drivers, notes an
issue with linkloop behavior, and further updates for the iether driver such as support
for the new A7011A (fiber) and A7012A (copper) 2-port Gigabit Ethernet cards.
Third edition of September 2004 describes updates for the gelan, igelan, and iether
Gigabit Ethernet drivers for HP-UX 11i v2 of September 2004. The September 2004
release of HP-UX 11i v2 combines support for the Itanium2 and PA-RISC platforms.
