IEther-00 (iether) B.11.31.1210 Ethernet Driver Release Notes, Edition 2 (November 2012)

Table 8 HP-UX 11i v3 March 2011 fixes IEther-00 B.11.31.1103 (continued)
DescriptionSR number
When a guest vNIC is created over the iether interface, the iether driver holds lock too
long during AVIO packet processing. This causes an HPVM host panic.
QXCR1001075909
When a guest vNIC is created over the iether interface, the iether driver receives packets
from AVIO guest and handles reset request from the AVIO guest simultaneously. Due to a
QXCR1001075915
problem in the locking mechanism, interface pointers can be reset to null, which causes an
HPVM host panic.
When a guest vNIC is created over the iether interface, HPVM guests with AVIO networking
receive duplicate multicast and broadcast packets from host.

5 Known problems and limitations
The following problems and limitations are known to exist in this release:
QXCR1001200917
Potentially poor network performance might be observed when operating the LAN card at
10Mb or 100Mb half-duplex. The following adapters could be impacted: AD221A, AD222A,
AD393A, and rx2800 LAN on Motherboard (LOM) adapters.
Workaround
The performance on these LAN adapters is fine when operating at 10, 100, or 1000Mb
full-duplex. Modify the speed/duplex settings accordingly.
Ethernet parameter restrictions
For PCI and PCI-X LAN cards that use the iether driver, HP does not recommend changing
the default values of the following four tunables. It has been found that certain combinations
of these tunables (other than the default settings) could result in card hangs.
send_max_bufs
recv_max_bufs
send_coal_ticks
recv_coal_ticks
These tunables are not supported with PCI-E cards that use the iether driver.
