8. Set the loopback mode.

9. Set the framing format.
• On the CT3 interface:

By default:
• The framing format on the CT3
interface is C-bit.
• The framing format on the T1
line is ESF.
10. Configure alarm signal
detection/sending.
• On the CT3 interface:

• On a T1 line:

Optional.
Alarm detection is enabled by
default.
11. Start a BERT test.
• On the CT3 interface:

Optional.
FEAC channel signal detection is
enabled by default, but no FEAC
signals are sent.
13. Configure MDL message
detection/sending on the CT3
interface.
