Follow these guidelines when you enable fast forwarding on Ethernet interfaces:
• Fast forwarding takes effect only when both the receive and send interfaces are on SAP modules
and the two interfaces are enabled with fast forwarding.
• Fast forwarding is supported on only Ethernet interfaces operating in route mode.
To enable fast forwarding on an Ethernet interface:

ip fast-forwarding By default, fast forwarding is disabled.
When fast forwarding is enabled on an Ethernet interface, the Ethernet interface supports only local
services, IP routing services, and MPLS services, such as NTP, DHCP, Telnet, TFTP, NQA, DNS, SSH, AAA,
QoS, OSPF, BGP, RIP, and IS-IS. The interface does not support other services, such as ASPF, NAT, Portal,
Firewall, IPsec, L2TP, and GRE. You cannot configure these services on the interface.
