R3102-R3103-HP 6600/HSR6600 Routers Interface Configuration Guide

68
Configuration procedure
When connecting the device to a SONET/SDH device, configure the clock mode of the SONET/SDH
device as master, because the clock source of a SONET/SDH network is more precise than the internal
clock source of the device.
1. Configure Router A:
# Configure the E3 channels of CPOS interface CPOS 2/0/0 to operate in unframed mode.
<RouterA> system-view
[RouterA] controller cpos 2/0/0
[RouterA-Cpos2/0/0] using e3 1
[RouterA-Cpos2/0/0] using e3 2
# Configure IP addresses for Serial 2/0/0/1:0 and Serial 2/0/0/2:0.
[RouterA] interface serial2/0/0/1:0
[RouterA-Serial2/0/0/1:0] ip address 11.1.1.2 24
[RouterA-Serial2/0/0/1:0] quit
[RouterA] interface serial2/0/0/2:0
[RouterA-Serial2/0/0/2:0] ip address 12.1.1.2 24
[RouterA-Serial2/0/0/2:0] quit
2. Configure Router B:
# Create the serial interface corresponding to the E3 interface.
<RouterB> system-view
[RouterB] controller e3 2/0/1
[RouterB-E3 2/0/1] using e3
[RouterB-E3 2/0/1] quit
# Configure interface Serial 2/0/1/0:0.
[RouterB] interface serial2/0/1/0:0
[RouterB-Serial2/0/1/0:0] ip address 11.1.1.8 24
[RouterB-Serial2/0/1/0:0] quit
Verifying the configuration
Use the display interface serial 2/0/1/0:0 command to check connectivity and use the ping command
to check network reachability.
Troubleshooting CPOS interfaces
Interface physical status is UP, link protocol status is down, and
loopback is detected
Symptom
Connect the CPOS interface of a device to that of another vendor through SDH, bundle E1 channels on
the interface to form a serial interface and enable PPP encapsulation for it.
Use the display interface serial command to check information on interface status. It shows that the
physical state of the interface is UP, but the link protocol is DOWN; and loopback, though not configured,
is detected on some interfaces.
