Figure 62 Windows operating system with the USB mass storage medium mounted
The router does not provide the USB mass storage medium driver for the host end. You must install a
Windows operating system that supports the USB mass storage medium driver on the host. HP
recommends that you use Windows XP.
The file system of the router and the Windows operating system on the host cannot operate the internal
CF card at the same time. Otherwise, an exception might occur. When the router connects to the host, the
file system of the router unmounts the internal CF card, and then the Windows operating system on the
host mounts the CF card.
When the router is connected to the host, you cannot use the file system of the router to manage the
internal CF card. When you disconnect the router from the host, the Windows operating system on the
host unmounts the internal CF card and then the file system of the router mounts the internal CF card
again.
When the LED of the USB device port is blinking (data is being received or transmitted), do not remove
the standard detachable USB cable or disable the USB device port by using the undo usb device-port
enable command. Otherwise, the router might fail.
To avoid damage to CF card and loss of the CF card's important files such as application files and
configuration files and to make sure the router can start up correctly next time, HP recommends not
formatting the CF card or deleting files on the card.
Enabling the USB device port
CAUTION:
Before enabling the USB device port, make sure the file system of the router is not performing file
operations, such as copying, on the internal CF card. Otherwise, the connection between the device and
the host fails or the file operation fails.
